Hello, my name is Tamburirai .I was born in Zimbabwe but now I am based in South Africa. I am passionate about the indigenous African chickens. These chickens are also known as village, scavenging, traditional, family chickens or road runners. In addition to this they have various names in different languages. A village chicken is usually reared in rural areas within Africa, and this is why they are all one hundred percent organic and have a delicious authentic and unique taste in both the meat and the eggs, which is difficult to beat. Furthermore they have high resistance to diseases and can thrive in harsh conditions. Therefore, in a well managed environment the village chicken will excel. This blog is about optimizing the potential of the neglected village chicken. I will be sharing secrets and tips which I have learnt from my mother and also through experience. My mother knows how to breed the village chicken .She knows how to take care of chicks as soon as they are hatched. I learnt a few tips just by observing her manage her flocks. After pestering her for years to go commercial I finally decided to take a leap myself. I see lots of opportunities in the village chicken. In addition to this I will be applying the skills I obtained from my Bachelor's degree( Logistics Major) from RMIT University of Melbourne in Australia.I also have a lot of commercial experience from working in large companies that I will be applying to my current project to scale it into a large chicken production company, that specializes in village chickens. I hope that the content from this blog is helpful and useful to you, but most importantly that inspires you to cease the commercial opportunity that village chicken present.
